Lesson 3: Tips on Taking Surveys

I just finished taking several surveys. I have earned over 200 points with Lightspeed. I am well on my way to earning $10 via PayPal wih them. Like I said, you really can earn money, but you won’t get rich.

There is so much hype out there claiming you will get rich taking surveys. Believe me, you can’t support yourself by taking surveys all day.

There are several types of survey companies. Some pay more than others. The best ones are the ones that just pay cash, or that you can earn points and convert them into cash, gift cards or merchandise. You should stick to these types of survey companies rather than the ones that are more like sweepstakes, unless you like this type of reward. I do mostly paid surveys but a few are sweepstakes. Survey Spot is one that I recommended in an earlier post. It is a combination of paid surveys and sweepstakes.

Once you have signed up for a bunch of survey sites you will start recieving invitations via email.
Take the surveys right away before they get closed. Once they get a certain number of responses they will close the survey.
When starting the survey be honest with your screening questions. These are questions that many sites will ask before they actually give you a survey to take. The purpose of the screening questions is to find out if you’re in the right demographic for the survey they’re offering. This is important because if the survey is targeted for women that do most of the food or clothing shopping for the household, they don’t want to give that survey to the man of the house. So, don’t lie on the screening questions or try to figure out what type of person they are looking for, it doesn’t work. When the survey begins, you don’t know what they are screening for so you won’t know what the ”correct” answers are anyways.
When taking the survey make sure you read every question and answer it honestly. If you just start running through it checking the middle row they WILL catch on and kick you off that survey.
When taking the survey make sure you are in the mindset that it could take up to 30 minutes (most are only 5 -10 minutes) to complete the survey.
When finished with the survey be sure to click on the submit button (if there is one)to be rewarded.
Like I said, you can make a little money taking surveys but be sure answer all the questions honestly. Most of the surveys are about new products that companies want to introduce into the marketplace. They want your honest opinion about the product.

By now I hope you took the first steps to get started on getting paid for your opinions. If you haven’t Go back to my previous post and follow those directions.

Today I am going to give you:

1. Register with as many companies as possible. I will start giving you a few everyday and several will even pay you just for registering as a panelist!

2. Comfirm your email address to ensure that you get the surveys. Most companies won’t send surveys until you verify your email account.

3. Respond to every survey invitation. This is the only way to get cash or points! The more you participate the more leads you will get to better paying studies.

4. Fill out demographic profiles whenever applicable. Completing this information will help you qualify for more surveys.

If you want a huge list right from the get go then maybe you do want to pay a fee to one of the websites that offer hundreds of sites right away. Hey, there!! I have created this site to share my experiences with taking on-line surveys and getting paid for them! I have been at this for over 8 months and feel that I have some valuable information for people that want to get started with this. I have to admit I didn't tell any of my friends that I was taking surveys, because I was not sure if it was a scam. Now I am starting to talk about it because I am actually bringing in a little money. There are plenty of websites offering access to Paid Online Surveys, Online Focus Groups and Market Research Studies that want to charge you anywhere from $19.95 to $69.95 for a membership (basically a list of survey companies that you can join for FREE!). Unfortunately, I actually paid money to one of those survey sites that say you will make tons of money taking surveys.

I think I paid $39.95!! Mistake # 1!!!! Don’t make the same mistake I did.

There are so many survey sites out there and they are all FREE to join. I want to help you and your friends find the best paid survey opportunities and to provide it Absolutely FREE!
So, that is what this site will be about. Please Bookmark this site so that you can take full advantage of, what I believe, to be the best paying surveys. I am not going to tell you that you will get rich but you will earn money and gifts.

I take surveys everyday and sometimes I earn cash, sometimes I earn points that I can later redeem for cash or prizes, and some are sweepstakes (not my favorite, but you never know, I could win someday). I have also received several products to try for free and simply need to follow up on a survey asking MY opinion of the product! EASY and FUN! I love trying out new products that may someday be sold in stores based on the opinions the company has collected by doing this type of product research.

I am working on a list of a few of my favorite survey sites and their links and will post that soon. For now, create an email account just for your surveys ( I use Yahoo) and a paypal account linked to that email account. Not a lot of surveys pay through pay pal but you might as well set it up so you are ready to go.
One more thing, Download RoboForm and fill out all your information. This is the best form filling in software I have ever used! You can fill out almost the entire form with just one click. I love it!

If you don't shop online, then you must read this!

Do you shop online? If you don’t, you may want to reconsider. Online shopping has increased over the years and there are several reasons why. I have definitely made more purchases online in the past year due to these reasons.

First, it is so easy to shop online and you never have to leave your house. You can shop any time day or night, which is perfect for people that work day time shifts, night time shifts, or for someone that is constantly on the with children all day long. Put the kids to bed and go shopping without ever leaving the house!

Second, and I love this, some companies don’t even charge you shipping! Some may have a minimum order amount to receive FREE shipping, some charge just $1.00 and some nothing at all. This is perfect for purchasing gifts for your friends and family that don’t live near you. You can even get your items gift wrapped at some sites.

Third, there are many items available online that you can’t find in the stores. Many sites will carry items online that they simply can’t keep in stock in every store they have. You may also find specials on items only if purchased online.

Lastly, you can compare products from different stores without having to actually go to each store. This is a great time saver, even if you prefer to shop at a “real” store. You can go online, check out the item you are interested in and then order it online or if you want decide what store you are going to go to and purchase it there.

This past Christmas, I really took advantage of shopping online. I have relatives that live in 4 different states and every year I purchase gifts, wrap them, box them up for shipping and head off to the post office! And, what do I do at the post office?? I have to wait in a huge line and pay a small fortune to ship my gifts. I was able to buy all my gifts online, have them wrapped and pay practically nothing for shipping. There was only one site I had to pay shipping for and it was because I waited until the last minute and had to have the gift rushed.

So, as I am doing this I come across some sites that reward you for shopping at certain stores through their websites. I was thrilled. I earned points for purchases I was going to make anyways, and later was able to convert those points into cash or merchandise. For me this was a win – win situation. After having such a great experience shopping online I will continue to do so. You can shop whenever you want, can get items delivered to your door (sometimes for FREE), find items you may not be able to find in the stores, and compare items from several stores at one time to help you decide what purchases to make.
